More than seven lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in about 770 polling stations across the three assembly constituencies. The results for the respective seats will be announced on November 23.
Key contestants include Nikhil Kumaraswamy, JDS leader and son of former CM HD Kumaraswamy, on an NDA ticket, and five-time MLA CP Yogeshwar from the Congress party for the Channapatna assembly seat. BJP's Bharat Bommai, son of former CM Basavaraj Bommai, is set to face Congress party’s Yasir Ahmed Khan in Shiggaon. Lastly, E Annapurna, wife of Congress leader and Bellary MP E Tukaram, will fight BJP’s Bangaru Hanumanthu in Sandur.

As polling for three seats in Karnataka is underway, CM Siddaramaiah urged the voters of three constituencies to cast their votes before the polling. He also expressed confidence and said that Congress party's candidates will win all three seats in the state. He further attacked PM Modi and said why he is not speaking about alleged Covid-19 scam in Karnataka.
He said, "All the scams took place during the BJP government. Our government did not do any corruption and will not indulge in such acts. The Prime Minister is lying during his poll campaigns."

Sandur registers lowest voter turnout among three seats by 11am
Sandur assembly constituency in north Karnataka registered the lowest voter turnout among all three seats where is polling underway by 11 am. While Channapatna and Siggaon registered 27.01% and 26.01% voter turnout by 11am, Sandur only registered 25.96% voter turnout. A total of 26.33% voter turnout was registered across three seats of Karnataka by 11 am.
‘Voting undergoing smoothly at Shiggaon,’ says Haveri CEO
"There are 241 polling booths here... Drinking water, toilets, benches have been arranged for voters... We have five dedicated Sakhi booths to encourage women voters. Voting is going on smoothly," Haveri CEO Akshay Sridhar said on Wednesday as the Karnataka bypolls were in progress.

Congress leader Zameer Ahmed Khan tendered his apology for his 'Kaalia' remark against HD Kumaraswamy.
"I apologise if my statement has offended anyone. Earlier, when I was with him, he used to affectionately call me 'kulla' (short) and I used to call him 'black'. I am ready to apologize if my statement offended anyone," Khan told reporters in Mysuru on Tuesday. Khan said that his remarks will not have an impact on the byelection results in the state
Women voters key in two seats
Women voters are set to play a pivotal role in the by-elections across two of the three Karnataka constituencies, as their numbers surpass those of male voters. Data from the Karnataka Election Commission reveals that Channapatna has 1.20 lakh women voters compared to 1.12 lakh men. Sandur follows a similar trend with 1,18,437 women voters against 1,17,939 men. In contrast, Shiggaon has a higher number of male voters.
