Gautam Gambhir press conference highlights: India head coach Gautam Gambhir has dispelled any worries about India's batting form against spin bowlers ahead of their two-match Test series against Bangladesh. India had suprisingly struggled against Sri Lankan spinners as they lost an ODI series in the country shortly after they won the 2024 T20 World Cup earlier this year. Captain Rohit Sharma had spoken about the problem and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also said that he was surprised that this is an aspect that he may have to work on with the Indian players. Gambhir also indicated that Sarfaraz Khan could be on the bench in the first Test, along with Dhruv Jurel, with Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul returning to the playing eleven. "We don’t drop anyone. We just pick the players who fit the XI. We believe in selecting the XI. Jurel is a phenomenal player when Pant is coming in, sometimes people have to wait. Same with Sarfaraz. There will be opportunities and you have to wait," he said.
