Left Handed Batsman

One of Bangladesh's fastest growing talents, Tamim Iqbal has already made a place for himself in the cricketing world as an aggressive left-handed opener. His ability with the bat was brought to notice at an early age when he smashed 112 off 71 balls against England in an Under-19 game to take his side to victory.

Tamim hails from a family of cricketers and it would be fair to say that the sport runs in his blood. His batting skills took him through and he made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2007. The selectors felt he had enough talent for the international circuit and placed him in the World Cup squad after playing just two ODIs. Tamim had a great outing as he scored a breezy half-century against India in the first World Cup encounter and played a big part in dumping the Indians out of the tournament. He scored his maiden century against West Indies in St. Vincent and won the game for his side. He went on to play several other special innings against Zimbabwe and England piling up centuries and half centuries.

Tamim is one of Bangladesh's most important batsmen and has become a regular opener for the team. Much of Bangladesh's success can be credited to his aggressive ways of batting and his pure skill and talent with the bat. He was drafted in the Pune franchise for the fifth edition of the Indian T20 League, replacing the injured James Hopes in 2012.
