Under engineering category, IIT Madras has again topped followed by IIT Delhi in second place and IIT Bombay in the third spot.

For medical category, AIIMS Delhi has ranked on top, second spot is acquired by PGIMER, Chandigarh and third place is acquired by Christian Medical College, Vellore.

The ranking Methodology is based on developing a set of metrics for ranking of academic institutions, based on the parameters agreed upon by the core committee.

Each ranking parameter and its sub-heads have a weight assigned to it.

While ranking, an attempt is made to identify relevant data needed to measure the performance score under each sub-head. In other words, only those data are identified that are easily provided by the institution or are easy to obtain from third-party sources and easily verifiable wherever needed, thereby making the process transparent.

A suitable metric is proposed based on this data which computes a score under each sub-head.

The sub-head scores are then added to obtain scores for each parameter. The overall score is then computed based on the weights allotted to each head. The score can be a maximum value of 100.

The institutions are then ranked based on their scores.

NIRF Ranking 2024 Live: The ranking framework evaluates institutions on five broad generic groups of parameters of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception. The ranks are assigned based on the total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.

NIRF Ranking 2024 Live: The annual rankings are usually announced in April but have been delayed this year. Last year it was announced on June 5. This year the announcement has been delayed more and will be declared today, August 12.

NIRF Ranking 2024 Live: The official website reads, “This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception.”

NIRF Ranking 2024 Live: In 2023, NIRF rankings was announced on June 5. IIT Madras topped in the overall category, followed by IISc Bangalore in second spot and IIT Delhi in the third place. IISc Bangalore topped the list, JNU came in second, and Jamia Millia Islamia acquired the third spot in universities category. IIT Madras acquired the first position, IIT Delhi in second and IIT Bombay in the third place in engineering category. AIIMS, Delhi in first position, PGIMER, Chandigarh in second spot and Christian Medical College in third place under medical colleges category.

1. The ranking Methodology is based on developing a set of metrics for ranking of academic institutions, based on the parameters agreed upon by the core committee.
2. Each ranking parameter and its sub-heads have a weight assigned to it.
3. While ranking, an attempt is made to identify relevant data needed to measure the performance score under each sub-head. In other words, only those data are identified that are easily provided by the institution or are easy to obtain from third-party sources and easily verifiable wherever needed, thereby making the process transparent.
4. A suitable metric is proposed based on this data which computes a score under each sub-head.
5. The sub-head scores are then added to obtain scores for each parameter. The overall score is then computed based on the weights allotted to each head. The score can be a maximum value of 100.
6. The institutions are then ranked based on their scores.
