Teachers in Belarus being targeted for links with 'extremist' group, says human rights body

As per a rights group spokesperson, teachers who were detained took part in an online teacher-education project which is declared to be an extremist group.
Belarus suppressed opposition and independent media for three decades under President Alexander Lukashenko, but the efforts to crush dissent intensified sharply in 2020 when nationwide protests arose after a presidential election whose disputed results gave Lukashenko a sixth term in office.
