The first-half has already seen Parul Chaudhary falter in the women's 3000m steeplechase round 1, as she finished eighth and was dealt a knockout blow. Meanwhile, Jeswin Aldrin failed to breach qualification mark in men's long jump event. Indian shooters Vijayveer Sidhu and Anish Bhanwala could not enter the final of the 25m rapid-fire men's pistol event at Chateauroux. Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon ended in 14th and 23rd place, respectively, in the women's skeet competition.

Amit Rohidas' red card: Hockey India files official appeal

Defender Amit Rohidas was sent off the pitch almost 40 minutes from the final hooter as his stick unintentionally hit a rival player during the last-eight match between India and Great Britain. The umpire will give his report to the technical delegate, who has to see the footage and decide whether the foul was intentional or not. Rohidas will be ruled out of the semifinal if his foul was intentional. Veteran goalkeeper Sreejesh made crucial saves to set India's 4-2 shootout triumph. Hockey India filed an official appeal after Rohidas’ red card.

Lakshya Sen is still medal-bound in Paris

Ace shuttler Lakshya Sen suffered a straight-game defeat to World No.2 Viktor Axelsen in the men's singles semifinals. However, the 22-year-old from Almora still has a chance to finish on the podium in his debut Olympic campaign. Sensational Sen will meet Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal playoff on Monday.

Golden Slam for Novak as GOAT gets gold

An emotional Novak Djokovic bagged his maiden Olympic tennis gold with a 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2) win over Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in the summit clash.
