Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Vijayadashami.

In his message issued on the eve of Vijayadashami, the Chief Minister said that the festival of Vijayadashami is a symbol of the victory of religion over unrighteousness, goodness over evil, and truth over falsehood.

"This festival inspires all of us to abandon the evil within us and follow the path of virtue in life. This holy festival also always reminds us that those who support the truth always win. Today there is a need to free ourselves from ego in our lives and follow the path of truth and work together for the social harmony of the state and the country," Dhami said.

Ahead of Dussehra, veteran actor Raza Murad reached Ayodhya to take part in 'Ramleela'. He is playing the role of Vibhishan.

In a conversation with ANI, he shared the significance of the name of Lord Ram in his life and said, "I have come here before. I came here this year, on 19th January. And this is the sacred land of Ram Lala. I am very attached to it. And Ram Lala has always blessed me. My full name, which is still on card, That is Raza Ali Murad. R from Raza, A from Ali, M from Murad... The first hit film that came to me that changed my destiny was 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili'. Subhash Ghai ji took me in his film 'Ram Lakhan'....."

"So, the word Ram for me is very, very blessed. And the most important thing is that for the past 12 years, I have played different characters in 'Ramleela. Sometimes I have played King Janak. Sometimes I have played Vishwamitra. Sometimes I have played Ahiravan. Sometimes I have played Kumbhakarna. Sometimes I have played King Dasharatha. I have played different characters," he added.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday performed 'Shastra Pooja' at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on the occasion of Vijayadashami.

Padma Bhushan and former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief K. Radhakrishnan, who is also the chief guest of the event, was seen accompanying the RSS chief.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted people on Vijayadashami.

"I wish all of you achieve victory in every sphere of life with the blessings of Maa Durga and Prabhu Shri Ram," he said on X.

Vijayadashami marks the end of Durga Puja and commemorates Lord Ram's victory over demon king Ravan.

Sri Ram Lila society has claimed to have erected the tallest Ravan effigy in India, standing at an impressive 211 feet tall in Sector 10 of Dwarka here.

The organisers have also sent an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Sri Ram Lila Society, it took 4 months to prepare and install this structure.
